Hi, Our names are Curtis and Marjorie LaPiere, We’d like to tell you a story about having a real internet business opportunity and how Marge (my wife) and I realized and achieved our true dreams…… As you can problably tell from the picture that we're senior citizens! I retired from my 9 to 5 job selling home security systems in Florida April of 2002 at age 62. Marge is my age as well but didn’t want to retire because she was (and still is) office manager for our sons manufacturing company. We have four grown children, which now have their own children. I guess we’re classified as empty nesters. I’m telling you all this because as an empty nester and Marge going to the office everyday it gets a little boring being alone after awhile……. Of course there’s always golf, fishing, visiting buddies at the coffee shop, etc. and that gets real boring after awhile! I was always interested in the internet….playing with eBay, searching for certain information, emailing my friends. I often found myself daydreaming of how it would be if I found a real internet business opportunity……something that could add to Marge and I’s income. This, I found out, is easier said than done! A real internet business opportunity which is honest, sincere and can actually help people is hard to find. In no time I found out that there are more scams that claim to make you a millionaire in no time……even in 30 days rather than a legitimate internet business opportunity. To state that I ran into many of the so-called work-from-home and get-rich-in-a-week schemes on the net would be an understatement ….. I’ll be the first to admit that some are quite tempting, especially to someone like myself who was eager for a change. Actually, I can see why many people spend $1,000s of their hard earned dollars over a period of time hoping that one of those schemes actually work…..heck…..I even tried many of them myself while I was searching for a real internet business opportuity. I even tried “stores” on the net, and not just hosted by anyone….I had a Pro Store through Google, had a Yahoo Store, and even had eBay stores! Each store looked great!! The products were wholesale by a company in California called Service Merchandize Corporation (SMC), they were actually great products…… Problem was…..hosting fees for stores were $39.00 ($468.00 per year), cost of SMC membership is about $25.00 per month ($288.00 per year) and pay per click (PPC) cost ranged about $100.00 per month ($1200.00 per year). That’s the cost of only one store! Ebay stores are good if you have the right products at the right price….the cost of experimenting can run into $40 to $50 per month. I didn’t even mention the cost of different domain names. Ever hear of the Dollar Store....We tried that too. The site is free, the domain is free as long as you have it on there hosted web site...here's what you have to do...... Before you can be sent your commissions for products sold, your commissions must add up to $100. Do you know how many $1.00 items you have to sell before you see your $100 commission check.....how about 1,000 items plus there's a $39.95 monthly fee not to even mention your advertizing dollars. After all these costs, my sales were not good to say the least….now here’s legitimate and very well known internet companies that give you free web sites to work with and the average person still can’t make any money…..actually it’s just more money thrown away. The day you stop paying other companies to send you traffic is the day the traffic stops. And so does your business. Like you, aren’t we all just looking for a real internet business opportunity that really works that doesn't cost an arm and leg. A real internet business opportunity that is honest and something we can be proud to claim as our own and have an internet home based business that really makes money because of the internet and not spend hundreds and thousands of dollars experimenting. After a few months of trying one scheme after another, as well as the internet stores, I ran across a free 5 day email course that promised to enhance my online skills as a first step towards building an online business. Of course my first thought was……..right…..here we go again, another online marketing business opportunity. Well this 5 day email course was at least free so what I said to myself was.....why not....this sounds like a real internet business opportunity. At least this internet home based business course didn’t claim to make me a millionaire over night like all the rest of them. What have I got to lose by signing up…..it’s free right! I already threw a way a couple hundred dollars on internet schemes to say the least. My second thought was….if it’s free can it be a real internet business opportuity? Bottom line, I signed up anyway. To this day, Marge and I are very thankful that I did sign up for this free 5 day internet course. My guardian angle must have been with me that particular moment. Yes…I do believe in guardian angles. All this sounds great….the affiliate programs have really mushroomed since Amazon .com first brought it into public prominence in 1997. Millions of affiliates send billions of visitors to tens of thousands of companies in return for a commissions. Also make sure that your merchant has support 24/7.…support for you as an affiliate as well as your visitor that was sent by your recommendation. Find out if your merchant has an accurate, reliable real-time online accounting, preferably with the ability to be able to audit by spot-checking. Does your merchant have detailed traffic and linking stats, notification by e-mail when a sale is make, useful professional marketing assistance and materials available? What percentage of commissions does your merchant pay? Hard goods have a lower margin than digital ones, so their commissions will be lower but don’t be scared off by low priced products if they offer a good % commission. Another important fact to research…..does your merchant offer lifetime commissions? If their program pays a commission on future sales of other products to customers that you refer….this is a huge plus. Do they have lifetime cookie…..meaning…..do you receive a commission if the person you referred returns and buys within one month? Three months? The cookie that tracks this should not expire....ever! How about two-tier commissions….does your program pay a commission on affiliates who join because of you? If so....this is also a huge plus. If your merchant has a restriction on the number of affiliates it wants and you are able to be one of those affiliates….jump on it! Is there a monthly payment with a reasonable minimum……an example….a dollar store site holds your commissions until you reach $100.00.….being a dollar store, you’d have to have your visitors purchase 1000 items before you get paid. Please…..Please…..if your going to have an affiliate web site watch out for these negative factors…………. Slow and or poor support Unethical conduct of any kind Reports of late or even lack of payments Allow spam or seem to spam themselves Defective affiliate joining process ….. If they can’t get this right what hope have you got for a real internet business opportunity. Make sure you read their agreement….if you find clauses in their agreement that you find unacceptable….run….example: No exclusivity…you should be able to represent more than one book vender. Is the program really just a way to legally bribe folks to recommend overpriced, under delivering products in order to collect excessive commissions? If the commission is too low, it’s not interesting enough for us affiliates….if it’s too high, it’s a consumer rip off. Excessive commissions push the price of the product up to levels that can’t survive for long in the competitive internet marketplace. Our job as affiliates is a very important one…..we deliver high value content that gains the confidence and trust of our visitors, we recommend and refer our new acquired friends as part of our service and content…..recommending anything less that “sterling products” is simply fraudulent on our part. My bottom line is…..don’t allow yourself to be bribed into recommending such products….in the long run your reputation will be ruined and so will your business that you spent so much time developing a real internet business opportunity. Don’t get involved with merchants that want you to earn income by signing up others…you most likely are dealing with a pyramid scheme. Many people confuse honest legal MLM with dishonest pyramid schemes. Watch out for dead links on your merchants web site. And for havens sake….run…run…run when a web site promotes “get-rich-quick” gimmicks. Spend your time as Marge and I do with smart, stable, ethical companies with really great products.
